Factors affecting the size of PVC edge banding
In the factories of edge banding manufacturers, everyone knows that PVC edge banding is a product mainly made of polyethylene. During the production process, some additives such as plasticizers, lubricants, and stabilizers are added, and after several processes, a plastic roll is completed. It is widely used in our daily lives. However, there are a few issues that need to be pointed out, that is, the dimensional stability of PVC edge banding is not very good. After studying, the staff of Oudeya found that there are several factors that have a great impact on PVC edge banding. Let me explain them in detail to you.
Firstly, the effect of temperature on it: Temperature has no significant impact on the dimensional stability of PVC edge banding. The shrinkage rate of PVC edge banding increases with the increase of temperature: the shrinkage rate before edge banding increases rapidly and linearly after 60 ℃, while the shrinkage rate after edge banding shows this trend after 70 ℃. Considering that the high continuous use temperature of PVC is between 65 ℃ and 85 ℃, the experimental temperature is set at 65 ℃.
Secondly, what impact does time have on it? Time has a significant effect on the dimensional stability of PVC edge banding. The shrinkage rate of PVC edge banding increases with time. At 65 ℃, the shrinkage rate before edge sealing tends to stabilize after 4 hours, and the shrinkage rate after edge sealing tends to stabilize after 5 hours. For the convenience of the experiment, the experimental time is set at 4 hours.
Thirdly, we can observe the impact of humidity on it: the effect on the unsealed edge banding is negligible. The shrinkage rate of the edge banding strip after edge banding decreases under high humidity conditions. The reason for this decrease appears to be due to changes in the size of the substrate in the opposite direction. The specific reason for the change is the stress between the substrate, adhesive, and edge banding strip.
Seventh, when considering the edge sealing process, the impact is not significant. Both the substrate of the board and the hot melt adhesive have no significant effect on the dimensional stability of the PVC edge sealing strip. Among them, the shrinkage rate of the edge banding with medium fiber board as the substrate is lower than that with particleboard as the substrate, and the difference gradually increases with the increase of temperature. The main reason may be that the structures of the two types of artificial boards are different. Particle board has large particles and many gaps, while medium fiber board has small particles and a tight structure. These different structures will have different absorption of hot melt adhesive, resulting in this situation.
