Mixing machine:

Due to the fact that the formula for edge banding often contains various plastic raw materials (such as polyvinyl chloride resin, polypropylene, various additives, etc.), the function of the mixer is to thoroughly mix these raw materials that have been weighed in a certain proportion evenly. A common type is a high-speed mixer, which uses internal high-speed rotating stirring blades to strongly stir and shear materials, allowing different components of materials to reach the ideal mixing state in a short period of time, ensuring consistency in material properties during subsequent processing.



• Extruder:

This is one of the core equipment in the granulation process. After being mixed, the material is transported to the hopper of the extruder, and then pushed forward along the screw barrel by the rotation of the screw. During this process, the material will gradually plasticize and melt under the shearing and extrusion of the screw, as well as the heat provided by the external heating device of the screw barrel, becoming a uniform viscous fluid. It will be extruded from the die of the extruder, which usually has precise temperature control, screw speed adjustment and other functions to meet the plasticization and extrusion needs of different formula materials.


• Granulator:

The strip-shaped material extruded from the extruder die needs to be cut into uniform plastic particles by a granulator. There are various types of pelletizers, such as hot pelletizers and cold pelletizers. Hot cutting machine is used to cut materials when they are just extruded and still in a molten or semi molten state. Its advantages include good particle forming and high production efficiency. It is often used in conjunction with air or water cooling methods to quickly cool and shape the cut particles; The cold granulator is used to cut the extruded material after it has been completely cooled into solid strips by water cooling or other methods. It is suitable for situations where high precision is required for particle shape and size.

• Raw material preparation: Firstly, according to the specific formula requirements of the edge banding strip, different types of plastic resin raw materials (such as PVC, PP, ABS, etc.) and various functional additives (such as stabilizers, plasticizers, lubricants, coloring agents, etc.) are weighed and prepared in precise weight ratios to ensure the accuracy of the raw materials, which is the first step to ensure stable particle quality.

Mixing and stirring: Put the weighed raw materials into the mixer for thorough mixing. The mixing time, speed, and other parameters should be set reasonably according to the material characteristics and production process requirements. The mixed materials should present a uniform color and texture, laying the foundation for subsequent extrusion plasticization.

Extrusion plasticization: The uniformly mixed material is transported to the extruder, where it undergoes a transition from solid to molten state under the appropriate temperature (the temperature of the screw in different areas is set to different values based on the melting point and other characteristics of the material) and the push of the screw. It is continuously extruded from the die to form a regular long strip of material.

• Granulation molding: The long strip material enters the granulator and is cut according to the set particle size, ultimately forming plastic particles that meet production requirements. These particles will be temporarily stored in the workshop warehouse or directly transported to the subsequent edge banding extrusion production workshop for further processing after screening, packaging, and other processes.

Quality control and environmental protection measures

In terms of quality control: In the granulation workshop, regular inspections should be conducted on the appearance (such as impurities, uniform color, regular shape, etc.), size (particle size and tolerance range), and physical properties (such as melt index, density, etc.) of the particles. Through professional testing instruments and strict sampling inspection processes, every batch of particles produced can meet the quality standards for edge banding production, avoiding defects in subsequent edge banding caused by particle quality problems.

In terms of environmental protection measures: During the production process, dust may be generated in the mixing process. The workshop is generally equipped with effective dust removal equipment, such as bag filters, to collect dust and prevent it from spreading into the air and polluting the environment. Due to the high temperature heating involved in the extrusion process, a small amount of volatile gas is generated. Therefore, a ventilation system and supporting exhaust gas treatment devices (such as activated carbon adsorption devices) are usually installed to purify the exhaust gas and ensure that it meets environmental protection requirements for workshop production.
